Welcome to the Hidden Lane Landfill web site !

This site is still under construction.

The Hidden Lane Landfill is located in Potomac Falls Virginia between the communities of Broad Run Farms and Countryside. The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) proposed to place the landfill on the National Priorities List (NPL).  As a member living in the community affected by the landfill, I decided to create this web site. The intention of the web site is to share information about the landfill, ask questions, get answers from experts and discuss the issue. This is NOT a political site nor does it support any position as it relates to the landfill – it's for the community to share information and discuss the issue!

To be able to discuss and or ask questions you will have to be registered so please register and if you find this site of value please make a donation to help pay for the upkeep of the site.

 For immediate release

Today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) made the final decision to place the Hidden Lane Landfill on the National Priorities List (NPL) under the Superfund program.  The listing decision appeared in the March 18, 2008, Federal Register on pages 14719-14727.

The Hidden Lane Landfill, located in eastern Loudoun County between the Broad Run Farms and Countryside subdivisions, appears to be the source of the trichloroethylene (TCE) found in some 40 drinking water wells in the Broad Run Farms subdivision.  The landfill is also thought to be the source of a methane release that affected homes in Countryside in the early 1990s.  Information on the TCE issues affecting part of Broad Run Farms can be found on the Loudoun County website at http://www.loudoun.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=1601.
